Gus Bilirakis, a U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, recently addressed issues ranging from international relations to local community engagement in a series of posts on social media.
On March 12, 2026, Bilirakis commented on foreign policy, stating, “This deployment is a clear affront to Cyprus’s sovereignty, a violation of U.S. law, and a reckless step that will only heighten tensions and instability in the region. Such actions are unacceptable and undermine regional security. President Erdogan must immediately reverse”. The post did not specify which deployment was referenced but called for immediate action from President Erdogan.
Later that day, Bilirakis shared his experience meeting with women leaders in his district: “I was honored to speak with a women’s leadership group in Hernando County today about issues impacting their careers, families, and communities. I appreciated the opportunity to hear their perspectives and have a thoughtful discussion about the challenges facing working families” (March 12, 2026).
On March 13, he described another community event: “I enjoyed speaking with community leaders and small business owners at the @PascoEDC Annual NetFest event last night. It was a great opportunity to hear directly from the people who are helping drive economic growth, innovation, and job creation throughout Pasco County.”
Bilirakis has represented Florida’s 12th District since 2007 after serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. He succeeded Michael Bilirakis in Congress and holds degrees from the University of Florida and Stetson University. Born in Gainesville in 1963, Bilirakis currently resides in Palm Harbor.
