U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis, who represents Florida’s 12th district, recently used his social media platform to highlight a series of meetings and events focused on local governance, veterans’ affairs, and senior issues.
On July 31, 2025, Bilirakis posted about a meeting with Brooksville’s new City Manager: “I enjoyed meeting with Brooksville’s new City Manager, Lisa Hendrickson, yesterday. We had a great discussion about the city’s priorities and how we can collaborate to serve our shared community.”
Later that day, he invited veterans in his district to participate in an upcoming tele-townhall: “All Veterans in my district are invited to join a tele-townhall tomorrow morning with special guest VA Secretary Doug Collins. This is a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest improvements at the VA and to share your experiences. I hope to hear from many of our nation’s” (posted July 31, 2025).
On August 1, 2025, Bilirakis described hosting an event for seniors in Elfers: “Yesterday, I hosted an in-person senior forum in Elfers to answer questions and discuss how the One Big Beautiful Bill will benefit older Americans. Bilirakis has served as U.S. Representative for Florida’s 12th District since 2007 after succeeding Michael Bilirakis; prior to that he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 through 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor at age 60, Bilirakis holds degrees from both the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
