Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, posted a series of updates this week highlighting his recent meetings with local business leaders and raising concerns about national supply chain vulnerabilities.
On April 2, Bilirakis shared details from a meeting in Port Richey, writing, “This week, I had the opportunity to meet with small business owners in Port Richey alongside Mayor John Eric Hoover and Vice Mayor Chris Maher where we had a productive discussion about the challenges they are facing in today’s economic climate. From ongoing supply chain”.
The following day, on April 3, Bilirakis addressed broader policy issues related to pharmaceutical supply chains. He stated, “There is growing bipartisan concern that our nation’s reliance on foreign supply chains for essential medications poses an emerging national security risk. Through my work on both the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese”.
Later that same day, Bilirakis described another community engagement: “I enjoyed the opportunity to speak with the Hernando Business Connector Group this week about the work I am doing in Washington to support and strengthen our small business community. It was a great conversation focused on the challenges and opportunities facing local”.
Bilirakis has represented Florida’s 12th District in Congress since 2007 after succeeding Michael Bilirakis. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor, Bilirakis holds degrees from the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
