Gus Bilirakis, currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida’s 12th district, recently shared a series of updates on social media reflecting his ongoing activities and policy positions. Bilirakis, who has held his congressional seat since 2007 after succeeding Michael Bilirakis, addressed local community engagement, national security concerns regarding immigration enforcement, and energy policy.
On July 14, 2025, Bilirakis highlighted his participation in a local civic event by stating “I was proud to join local Rotarians for District 6950’s annual meeting this weekend. These dedicated leaders make a profoundly positive impact on our community each and every day!”
Later that day, he commented on the risks posed to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents by certain programs: “Programs like ICEBlock put our ICE agents at serious risk by warning criminal illegal immigrants in advance. As recent violent incidents have shown, this isn’t just irresponsible—it puts lives in danger. That’s one reason why I voted for the One Big, Beautiful Bill. It increases” This statement was posted on July 14, 2025.
On July 15, 2025, Bilirakis discussed efforts to strengthen American energy policy: “We are restoring American energy dominance by delivering: lower energy costs, stronger national security and resilience for our electrical grid.”
Bilirakis has represented Florida’s 12th District in Congress since 2007 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor, he holds degrees from the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
