Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, recently shared a series of posts on his official social media account highlighting legislative efforts and constituent service.
On July 16, 2025, Bilirakis wrote, “I’m proud of our efforts to serve the constituents of Florida’s 12th Congressional District.”
The following day, July 17, he addressed the role of college athletics in American society and recent legislative activity: “College athletics are a vital part of American culture, and it’s clear—from both student-athletes and universities—that a national framework is long overdue. In this week’s Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade Subcommittee, we advanced the recently introduced Student Compensation”.
Later that same day, Bilirakis commented on new federal legislation targeting drug abuse: “This week, President Trump signed the HALT Fentanyl Act, which I proudly co-sponsored. This is a critical step toward combating the fentanyl crisis that continues to devastate families and communities across our nation. This important legislation equips law enforcement with the”.
Bilirakis has served as Florida’s 12th district representative in Congress since succeeding Michael Bilirakis in 2007. Before joining Congress, he served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor at age 60, Bilirakis holds degrees from the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
