Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, recently highlighted his legislative efforts and reflections on national principles through a series of posts on social media.
On September 16, 2025, Bilirakis wrote about his work to reauthorize two national programs focused on treating severe illnesses: “ICYMI: I’m working to reauthorize two vital national programs that provide life-saving treatmentsfor patients battling leukemia, lymphoma, sickle cell anemia, and other serious diseases. These programs offer hope to thousands of families every year.”
The following day, he marked Constitution Day by emphasizing the foundational role of the U.S. Constitution in American society. On September 17, 2025, he posted: “Today we celebrate Constitution Day — a powerful reminder of the enduring principles that form the foundation of our great nation. Signed on September 17, 1787, the U.S. Constitution established the rule of law, limited government, and the rights and freedoms we cherish. Let us”
Later that same day, Bilirakis shared an update regarding community development initiatives: “ICYMI- Excited to share my latest column in The Citrus Chronicle. In it, I explore how thoughtful development, good planning, and responsible infrastructure are essential to preserving what makes our communities beautiful and livable. I look forward to continuing to partner with”
Bilirakis has served as Florida’s representative in Congress since succeeding Michael Bilirakis in 2007 after previously serving in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor at age 60, he holds degrees from both the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
