U.S. Congressman Gus Bilirakis, who represents Florida’s 12th district, recently highlighted his engagement with veterans, local financial institutions, and law enforcement survivors in a series of posts on social media.
On March 7, 2026, Bilirakis shared news of an award he received for his advocacy work: “Honored to receive the Student Veteran Champion Award this week! This recognition reflects my commitment to ensuring our veterans have access to education, benefits, and opportunities to thrive after serving our nation. Thank you to the students and advocates who inspire me every” (March 7, 2026).
Later that day, he discussed a meeting with regional credit union leaders: “I had the opportunity to meet with leaders from credit unions across the Tampa Bay area last week to discuss the vital role they play in strengthening our local economy. We spoke at length about their ongoing efforts to support members, expand access to responsible lending, and” (March 7, 2026).
On March 9, Bilirakis attended an event supporting families of fallen police officers: “I was honored to attend the West Central Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors’ annual gala this weekend. It was a powerful evening dedicated to remembering the brave men and women throughout our community who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to supporting” (March 9, 2026).
Bilirakis has served in Congress since 2007 after previously holding office in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. He succeeded Michael Bilirakis in representing Florida’s 12th district. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor, Bilirakis holds degrees from both the University of Florida and Stetson University.
