Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, posted a series of tweets addressing key legislative actions and national observances between July 24 and July 25, 2025.
On July 24, Bilirakis highlighted the importance of over-the-counter medications in daily American life and advocated for the reauthorization of the Over-the-Counter Monograph User Fee Act (OMUFA). He stated, “Millions of Americans use OTC medications every day — from pain relievers to allergy meds to sunscreen. That’s why reauthorizing the Over-the-Counter Monograph User Fee Act (OMUFA) is essential. It keeps these products safe, up-to-date, and innovative — all without taxpayer”.
The following day, on July 25, Bilirakis marked National Hire A Veteran Day by recognizing veterans’ contributions to the workforce. He wrote, “Today is #NationalHireAVeteranDay! Veterans bring unmatched leadership, discipline, and dedication to the workforce. Today, we recognize the incredible value they add to every team—and encourage employers across the country to open doors for those who’ve served. I’m especially”.
Later that same day, he referenced recent legislative achievements with the passage of a major bill: “As promised, we’ve delivered historic wins for all Americans with the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act — and we’re just getting started. We’ll keep building on this momentum for even more progress!”
Bilirakis has represented Florida’s 12th District in Congress since succeeding Michael Bilirakis in 2007 and previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor at age 60, he holds degrees from both the University of Florida and Stetson University.
