Gus Bilirakis, U.S. Congressman representing Florida’s 12th district since 2007, recently shared updates on his community engagement and legislative work through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter).
On August 6, 2025, Bilirakis highlighted his meeting with Jennifer Williams, founder of GPS4Vets. He wrote: “I recently had the opportunity to meet Jennifer Williams, a dedicated Veteran and founder of GPS4Vets, a local nonprofit committed to guiding Veterans and their families toward career and educational success. The following day, August 7, he marked Purple Heart Day by honoring military service members who have been wounded or killed in action. In his post he stated: “Today is Purple Heart Day — a solemn reminder to honor the courageous men and women who were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Later that same day, Bilirakis discussed his recent address to the Holiday Rotary Club about ongoing legislative efforts in Washington. He posted: “It was a pleasure to speak to the Holiday Rotary last week about my work in Washington. Bilirakis has served as representative for Florida’s 12th district since succeeding Michael Bilirakis in 2007 after previously holding office in the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2006. Born in Gainesville in 1963 and currently residing in Palm Harbor at age 60, he holds degrees from both the University of Florida (BA) and Stetson University (JD).
