In the day's opening contest, Edward Waters took to the floor against former NCAA Division II and SIAC member Paine College. The Purple & Orange made quick work of the Lady Lions, rolling to a dominant 3-0 victory.

It was a coming out party for sophomore Morgan Billingsley who turned in her best performance in a Purple & Orange uniform, racking up 12 kills to lead the way for EWU. Junior Audrianna Jones finished with eight kills, while both sophomore Caitlyn Willis and freshman Catherine Richards had six kills apiece.

Match #2 of the afternoon was EWU's opening contest against an SIAC foe as the Lady Tigers battled the Lady Wildcats of Fort Valley State on their home floor. This match proved to be a bit more challenging for EWU, but as was the case in the opener, the Lady Tigers were able to come out on top in straight sets, 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-17).

Freshman Catherine Richards paced the EWU efforts in the contest, picking up nine kills while junior Arielly De Souza had seven for the Lady Tigers.

Senior Katarina Ribar had 14 assists, while De Souza led the way defensively with 20 digs in the match.

Edward Waters will look to keep the positive momentum going the next time they take the floor, which will be on Tuesday, September 14th in another SIAC matchup at Albany State with first serve set for for 6:00pm.
