City of Brooksville issued the following announcement on Sept. 21.
During a regular Council Meeting, the Brooksville City Council recognized and praised various causes taking place during the month of September. PetLuv 25th Anniversary – This
year marks the 25th anniversary for the Brooksville non-profit Pet Luv. PetLuv’s primary mission is to offer affordable spay and neuter services that will help prevent unwanted
animals from being born only to suffer and die. The non-profit has advocated for and is an active participant in the Hernando County Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate and Return program to
address the feral cat problem. PetLuv saves more than 350 cats and kittens per year from being euthanized and have also altered, dewormed, defleaed, cleaned the ears and
given rabies shots to thousands of local feral cats. PetLuv has over 80,000 clients and has performed 205,000 surgeries since its inception, saving local citizens millions of dollars
in pet care costs. Florida Manufacturing Day - Recognizes October 1, 2021, as Florida Manufacturing Day. The goal of Manufacturing Day is to inspire the next generation of
manufacturers, and educate the public at large on the importance of the role manufacturers play in our daily lives and the growing skill shortage despite the high volume of job
openings in the sector. Manufacturing provides more than 150 jobs in the City of Brooksville, and the 15-plus manufacturing facilities within the city makes products as diverse as
transmissions, fabricated metal products, industrial signs, pavers, limestone products and ready-mix concrete. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Day – September 24, 2021, officially
recognizes the National Football League (NFL) team for their unmatched athletic performances, history making win, and unparalleled community involvement. The Tampa Bay
Buccaneers have set the date of September 24, 2021, to bring their 2021 Campus Tour to the Hernando High School Varsity Leopards Football home game versus Nature Coast
High School Sharks at Tom Fisher Memorial Stadium in City of Brooksville. Resolution 2021-14 Honoring Dr. Dennis Wilfong – The City of Brooksville recognized the
accomplishments and honored the memory of Dr. Dennis Wilfong. Dr. Wilfong, wellknown for his inventions in surge protection products also served as the City’s Ambassador of
Commerce and Employment from 2009 to 2018. Dennis was empowered by his walk with Christ and blessed with a generous and nurturing spirit to give endlessly to his family and
the community around him. Dennis passed away on August 26, 202, after dedicating his life to his family, community and helping others any way he could. The City Council
realizes the importance of each of these matters and recognizing those who have so selflessly served our community. They call upon the citizens to join in this observance and do
