Hernando County issued the following announcement on Oct. 27.
A strong cold front will move toward the Florida peninsula late tonight (10/27/2021) and Thursday (10/28/2021). Strong thunderstorms ahead of and along this boundary could become severe with damaging winds and an isolated tornado/waterspout or two. The severe threat will diminish from northwest to southeast late Thursday afternoon and evening. Strong and gusty winds will develop ahead of and follow the front Thursday through Friday (10/29).
Impacts:
Damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes and/or waterspouts, with the greatest chance for tornadoes from around the Tampa Bay and north through the Nature Coast
Strong gusty winds ahead of and behind the front will lead to hazardous seas with high surf and rip currents likely
Minor coastal flooding possible Thursday night into Friday morning over the Nature Coast
