Glover's triple-double paces lady tigers in home win over coastal Georgia

Edward Waters College recently issued the following announcement.

Graduate student guard/forward La'Quanza Glover continued to add to her legendary career at Edward Waters University, posting her first career triple-double in aiding the Lady Tigers efforts in an 84-65 home win over Coastal Georgia on Monday afternoon at the James Weldon Johnson Auxiliary Gymnasium.

The victory for the Lady Tigers (12-7) snapped a three game losing skid and posted their fourth consecutive home victory.

The two squads had a slow start in the contest which allowed Coastal Georgia (5-13) to take the early advantage, leading 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. The Purple & Orange woke up in a major way in the second quarter, outscoring CCGA 29-16 to take a 42-33 lead at halftime.

Edward Waters stretched their advantage to as much as 14 points at the 8:01 mark of the third quarter, but the visiting Mariners would not go away quietly, cutting the EWU advantage to as little as four with 2:16 remaining. The Lady Tigers fired back with a run of their own, pushing the lead back out to double digits to lead 64-52 at the end of the quarter.

The fourth quarter saw EWU take a lead by as many as 20 points and effectively closed out any chance of a CCGA comeback to earn a convincing 19 point victory on the home floor.

Edward Waters did a masterful job in sharing the basketball, totaling 20 assists as a team in the contest. The Lady Tigers scored 26 points off of 19 CCGA turnovers, outscored the Mariners 38-26 in points in the paint, and 18-4 in second chance points. The Lady Tiger reserved also played a major part in the victory, outscoring Coastal Georgia's reserved 36-13. EWU outshot CCGA 42.9% to 37.3% in the contest and had a dominant showing on the boards, outrebounding the Mariners 53-33 including an 18-7 in offensive rebounding.

Glover had game highs in scoring with 20 points, rebounds with 15, and assists with 10 to earn the coveted triple-double. Freshman reserve guard Camryn Siemer was electric off of the Lady Tiger bench with 20 points, including going 4-of-9 from three point range. Junior center Emari Bell recorded 12 points and six rebounds, and junior guard Lee'Sha Henry notched 10 points and three rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Edward Waters will next host Carver College on Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm.
