Pasco-Hernando State College recently issued the following announcement.
Pasco-Hernando State College is putting the focus on fun at the free Family Fun Festival and Health Fair, to be hosted at the New Port Richey campus,10230 Ridge Road, on Saturday, February 5 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
The event, supported by the Musunuru Family, will provide a variety of free activities for kids, including a bouncy house, carnival games and prizes, balloon and body painting artists, crafts, music, and much more.
"Residents of all ages will enjoy attending this unique event," said PHSC President Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D. "Parents and prospective PHSC students will learn about financial aid, scholarships, athletics, and student activities in addition to exploring health and wellness opportunities available at PHSC and in the community."
Campus tours, including the library, gymnasium, and other facilities, will be available. College admission fees will be waived, and guests will be encouraged to stroll the tree-lined, one-mile Mrs. Prameela Musunuru Health and Wellness Trail. The outdoor health fair, featuring 40 vendors to date, will provide information on health, wellness, physical fitness, community services, and more. Additionally, CPR demonstrations and blood pressure checks will be provided, courtesy of PHSC's Emergency Medical Technician program.
Pasco County Schools' STEM Bus, an interactive exhibit featuring high school science, technology, engineering, and math programs will also be on site.
Food and beverages will also be served to guests at no charge, including Chicken Salad Chick menu items as well as corndogs, churros, cotton candy, popcorn, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and more!
The event celebrates Rao Musunuru, M.D. Day in Pasco County, officially recognized annually on February 1. Rao Musunuru, M.D., Chair of PHSC's District Board of Trustees, has served on the board for 22 years, distinguishing him as among the longest-serving board member in the Florida College System.
"Dr. Musunuru is passionate about PHSC and public, higher education," said Beard. "The Family Fun Festival and Health Fair offer the community an opportunity to learn more about PHSC programs, activities, and health and fitness. The event also recognizes Dr. Musunuru for his service to the college and his many generous contributions to the PHSC Foundation.
