Pasco-Hernando State College Hosting Tampa Bay’s Second Chance Reentry Roundtable

90

The Reentry Roundtable will be held at PHSC’s West Campus R-building in New Port Richey from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Thursday, April 28.  PHSC is working with End Recidivism, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, and many other key stakeholders. April is National Reentry month, and the goal of this very broad panel discussion is to create better ways to reduce recidivism. We will be looking for ways to combat the challenges of reentry with a focus on the unique opportunities that can be provided to improve the outcomes of those returning to society after incarceration.

Every year, thousands of people are being released back into Tampa Bay communities from jails and/or prisons.

PHSC President Dr. Timothy Beard said, "Pasco-Hernando State College is committed to working with community stakeholders to reduce recidivism by providing Pasco and Hernando County citizens with career training and support services. We believe everyone deserves a second chance -- to attain better-paying jobs, personal success, and a better quality of life."

This conversation is a collaboration between local, state, federal, grassroots, and faith-based organizations as well some formerly incarcerated individuals. Pasco-Hernando State College is pleased to host this important event and welcomes our keynote speaker, the Honorable Andrew Warren, State Attorney 13th Judicial Circuit. Since his initial election, Warren has implemented a series of reforms, including prioritizing the prosecution of violent crime, serious fraud, and serial recidivism.
