Hernando County Board of County Commissioners Reduced Millage Rate

On Tuesday, July 26, 2022, the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) set the maximum millage rate and lowered property taxes by 0.3 mills. Following the budget workshop on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, Hernando County Administrator, Jeff Rogers, and staff presented the Fiscal Year (FY) 2022-2023 Recommended Budget that included a millage reduction of 0.2, with a Certified Tax Value Increase of 18.82%. At that workshop, the BOCC further recommended a reduction of 0.1 mill for a total of 0.3 mills bringing the General Fund millage down to 7.1412.

This is the 3rd year in a row that the BOCC has approved lowering taxes resulting in reducing the tax burden for Hernando County citizens. The Total Recommended Budget is ­$647,425,424. The FY 2022-2023 Recommended Budget may be viewed at www.HernandoCounty.us.
