Nine Lions were recognized by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) for their work in the classroom during the 2021-2022 season. Olivia Buthorn, Piper Daniels, Franki Dorfman, Lia Lamendola, Emily Lampasone, Gigi Moll, Melissa Reeves, Marisa Souchak, and Sierra Yoder were honored among the 517 student-athletes from 68 Division II Institutions. In order to be eligible for the prestigious honor, student-athletes were required to be either a junior, senior, or graduate student who earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
This is the second year Souchak and Buthorn have been recognized by the IWLCA. Buthorn graduated in May with a degree in Health Care Administration. Souchak graduated in December with a Bachelor's of Elementary Education and is currently pursuing her Master of Education: Instructional Leadership.
First-time honoree Franki Dorfman graduated in May with a degree in Criminal Justice and Melissa Reeves is completing her MBA with a concentration in Sport Business.
The Lions return Piper Daniels (Master of Science: Computer Science), Lia Lamendola (Biology/Chemistry), Emily Lampasone (Psychology: Clinical/Counseling Specialization), Gillian Moll (Marketing/Economics), and Sierra Yoder (Computer Information Systems).
Additionally, the team was recognized as an Academic Honor Squad. To qualify as an Academic Honor Squad, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
