Edward Waters' sophomore outside hitter Fatima Ramirez and senior libero Andrea Diaz Merced were selected as the SIAC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively the conference office announced on Tuesday morning.
For Ramirez, it his her second consecutive SIAC Offensive Player of the Week award and her third such honor of the campaign. The Belmopan, Belize native helped Edward Waters to a 3-0 record last week sweeping conference foes Albany State, Savannah State, and Fort Valley State. Ramirez led the Tigers' offense with 45 total kills, 35 digs, and three aces.
Diaz has had a stellar final season in Purple & Orange. The native of Gurabo, Puerto Rico, led Edward Waters with 34 digs on the week along with nine assists and three service aces over three matches last week.
Edward Waters will be the East Division's #1 seed in the upcoming 2022 Cricket SIAC Women's Volleyball Championship in Mobile, Alabama. The Lady Tigers will open the single-elimination tournament on Thursday, November 10th at 2:00pm EST/1:00pm CST against the West Division's #4 seed Miles College in the opening round.
