The USA Lacrosse Magazine released its' 2023 Division II Women's Lacrosse Preseason All-American honors on January 17th, 2023. Maria Palomba of the Saint Leo women's lacrosse program was listed as an honorable mention by USA Lacrosse Magazine.
Head Coach Caitlin Hansen commented on the preseason nod, ""Maria's freshman season and efforts on the draw circle were impressive. It's great to see USA Lacrosse Magazine recognize her as we prepare for spring competition. We know last season was just the start for Maria and look forward to watching what she will do on all ends of the field in 2023!".
Palomba will enter her sophomore campaign this season. Last year, she was named US Lacrosse Magazine All-American, IWLCA All-Region Second Team, and earned the honor of being selected as SSC Freshman of the year. She finished her freshman campaign with the Lions recording 27 points (14 goals, 13 assists), won 166 draw controls, and picked up 37 ground balls.
Palomba is joined by five Sunshine State Conference members to receive honorable mentions in Kayla Minton (Florida Tech), Lizzie Pierpont (Tampa), Ellie Griffin (Florida Southern), Bridget Cawley (Rollins), and Emma Telatovich (Embry-Riddle).
