A 31 point output from Tavares Oliver and two other players in double figures were not enough for Edward Waters to get over the hump in a 74-67 home loss to the University of Fort Lauderdale in a non-conference matchup at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex Monday evening.
For the Tigers (3-12, 2-8 SIAC), the difference in the contest was their inability to stop the depth of UFTL (10-11) as the Eagles bench outscored EWU's 57-8. Turnovers also haunted Edward Waters as they committed 24 critical ones as a team that resulted in 29 points for Fort Lauderdale. The Eagles also enjoyed a 38.6% to 33.3 % shooting edge over the homestanding Tigers in Monday's matchup.
Oliver was one of the lone bright spots in the contest, finising with a game high 31 points on 11-25 shooting, including going 7-16 from beyond the arc. Larry Kuimi turned in his second consecutive double-double effort with 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Cahlib Edwards finished a rebound short of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds.
Edward Waters will return to SIAC competition on Saturday, January 21st in Savannah against Savannah State, with tip-off from Tiger Arena slated for 3:00pm.
