CF Hosts Health Sciences Week Events

The College of Central Florida will celebrate Health Sciences Week March 20-24 with open houses, tours and opportunities for prospective students to talk with faculty and current students. 

Events will focus on CF’s Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Services, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography and Surgical Services programs and will be held at the CF Ocala Campus, 3001 S.W. College Road, unless noted otherwise.

All events are free and open to the public. Some events will include the opportunity for prospective students to apply to the college with no application fee. For more information, contact Peggy Recanzone at recanzop@cf.edu.

Health Sciences Week Event Schedule

Physical Therapist Assistant and Radiography Open House
Monday, March 20, 9-11 a.m., Building 20
Tour the program labs and meet faculty. Students can complete the CF general admission application for free. 

Evidence-Based Poster Presentations
Tuesday, March 21, 1-3 p.m., Ewers Century Center, Building 40
Learn about the latest health research on a variety of topics from current nursing students. 

Allied Health Sciences and Surgical Services Lab Tour
Wednesday, March 22, 9-10 a.m., Allied Health Sciences, Building 6
Tour the newly renovated home of Surgical Services and future home of new programs in Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Care and Diagnostic Medical Sonography Technology. Meet Surgical Services faculty and complete the CF general admission application for free. 

Health Sciences Student Panel
Wednesday, March 22, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Stearns Learning Resources Center, Building 3
Learn about program expectations, outcomes and experiences from current Health Sciences students. 

Dental Open House
Thursday, March 23, 9-11 a.m., CF Hampton Center, 1501 W. Silver Springs Blvd.
Tour the newly remodeled CF Dental Clinic and learn about the Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene programs. A Dental Hygiene information session will start at 10 a.m. Students can complete the CF general admission application for free. 

EMS Mass Casualty Incident
Thursday, March 23, 2-4 p.m., Building 37
Observe a student training exercise that simulates an EMS call with a large number of sick or injured people who require emergency medical care. EMT and Paramedic students learn to triage patients and facilitate transport to local health care facilities. 

Simulation Center Tours
Friday, March 24, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Health Sciences Simulation Center, Building 16
See demonstrations of the high-fidelity simulators that allow students to learn and practice medical procedures on high-tech simulated patients. 

Allied Health Sciences Tour
Friday, March 24, 2-3 p.m. Allied Health Sciences, Building 6
Tour the newly renovated home of Surgical Services and future home of new programs in Cardiovascular Technology, Respiratory Care and Medical Diagnostic Sonography Technology. Students can complete the CF general admission application for free.
