Pasco-Hernando State College celebrates its 50th anniversary and Women’s History Month at its North Campus in Brooksville on Mar. 18. The event features a variety of free activities including a photo booth, bounce house, games, music, food, vendors, guest speakers and more.

The celebration is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Admission application fees are waived for any new student who enrolls during the celebration.

At 12 p.m. The “EmpowHer Hour” starts featuring guest speakers Erin Daly, Assistant State Attorney 5th Judicial Circuit Court, Dr. Xonjenese Jacobs, Executive Director, PACE Center for Girls, Cynthia Brown Jackson, Educator/Counselor/Community Activist, Davina Jones, Porter Campus Provost, Marilyn Morales, Businesswoman (former Senior Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness and Training), and moderator Wanda Vyborny, Professor of Humanities, discussing the topic of Breaking Barriers: Women Defining Leadership.

"Women have made and continue to make significant contributions to society so by taking moments to understand, appreciate, and celebrate these contributions, not only do we pay homage to our past but offer a blueprint for the next generation of future leaders,” said Shauna Kincade, Associate Dean, Academic Affairs and Retention Services.

PHSC has woven important themed cultural elements into each of its 50th Anniversary celebrations corresponding with the nationally recognized dates of the year.

For 50 years PHSC has driven transformational change by providing educational opportunities within our community comprised of a multitude of ethnicities, backgrounds and cultures.

“We are proud of our efforts throughout the years to have served more than 60,000 students from our communities,” said Timothy L. Beard, Ph.D., PHSC president.

Many students, employees, retirees, special guests and visitors have attended the events throughout this year of celebration.

Hernando Healthcare Foundation will also be honored during the event with a building dedication ceremony.

PHSC will host similar community celebrations at each campus throughout the remainder of its 50th anniversary year. Visit https://phsc.edu/history to learn more about this event and other upcoming 50th anniversary celebrations.
