On October 21, 2022 Governor Ron DeSantis appointed 2 community members to serve on the Hernando County Housing Authority. The Hernando County Housing Authority was created by the Hernando County Board of County Commissioners on May 3,1977 with the adoption of resolution #77-32. The Housing Authority has a fivemember Board of Commissioners who are appointed by the Governor of the State of Florida. Those individuals selected were John Carroll and Clifford Manuel.
Mr. Carroll is a Correctional Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections. He is a veteran of the United States Army and is a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Military Police Regimental Association. Carroll earned his bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Saint Leo University.
Mr. Manuel is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Coastal Engineering Associates, Inc. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority. Manuel earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida.
“We were excited to hear about the news of the 2 newly appointed individuals to the Housing Authority,” said Hernando County Housing Authority’s Executive Director, Terri Beverly. “With their dedicated service to the community they make a great addition to the board.”
The Housing Authority administers three main programs, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program and a Neighbor Stabilization Program (NSP) rental program.
