Hernando County Utilities, Florida-Friendly Landscaping, UF/IFAS Extension at Hernando County Master Gardener Volunteers, and Hernando County Solid Waste will be hosting a Florida-Friendly Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 22nd at the Hernando County Master Gardener Volunteer Nursery at 19490 Oliver St., Brooksville, FL 34601 from 9:00am – 12:00pm. This family friendly event will offer Florida Friendly plants for sale, recycling information, Florida-Friendly Landscaping educational materials, a master gardener Q & A Booth, a native plant expert, a kid’s craft table, booths from community organizations and workshops/demonstrations.
Schedule of events:
- Macro-Photography Workshop: 9:15am – 10:00am (Bring you camera or phone!)
- Native Plant Propagation Workshop: 10:15am – 11:00am
- Pruning Demonstration: 11:15am – 12:00pm
Master Gardener Volunteers, Urban Horticulture Agent Dr. Bill Lester, and FFL Program Coordinator Lilly Browning will be on-site to answer Florida gardening questions. Carmen Bruno, Recycling Coordinator at Hernando County Solid Waste will be on hand to address your recycling questions. Also joining us will be Hernando County Mosquito Control, Hernando Audubon, Hernando County Stormwater Department and Hernando County Emergency Management.
